Mariano Nante - Filmmaker
Mariano Nante studied Filmmaking at Universidad del Cine (FUC) and Philosophy at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA). He directs narrative, documentary and commercial in his native Argentina and all around the world.
During the last few years he directed films, documentaries and live performances with some of the greatest names in classical music: Martha Argerich, Daniel Barenboim, Plácido Domingo, Klaus Mäkelä, Daniil Trifonov, Alexandre Tharaud, Mischa Maisky, among many others.
He wrote, directed and produced the feature documentary Pianists Street ("La calle de los pianistas"), shot in Belgium and Argentina. The movie premiered at the closing night of the Buenos Aires International Film Festival in the prestigious Teatro Colón to great critical response and went on to become one of the most successful documentaries of Argentina in the last decade. It received several awards including the two most important prizes in Argentina: “Best Documentary of the Year” by the National Academy of Motion Pictures (Premio Sur) and the Society of Film Critics (Premio Cóndor).
Mariano was one of the producers of Piazzolla: The Years of the Shark by Daniel Rosenfeld (co-produced by ARTE France), which premiered in IDFA to great acclaim both from critics and audiences alike. He also produced The Kaiser of Atlantis, a feature documentary by Sebastián Alfie which premiered to great acclaim in Málaga Film Festival and won 12 international awards.
Mariano directed Beethoven: Last Sonatas”, a musical film for the small screen produced by ARTE France, Idéale Audience and Warner Classics, starring renowned French pianist Alexandre Tharaud. He was also the co-director of the ARTE TV Series Concert Privé (Prod- Bel-Air Media) starring Daniel Barenboim, Martha Argerich and Mischa Maisky.
Mariano also directs commercials around the world for prestigious clients.
